Pencil Log Pros FAQ's
Q: How are Pencil Log Pros reviews verified?
A: We only publish Pencil Log Pros feedback from real clients collected via Google and our post-project surveys. We never buy, edit, or incentivize reviews. When we share excerpts, we keep the reviewer’s name and date consistent with the original source.
Q: Can I speak with a recent customer or see before-and-after photos?
A: Yes. Tell us about your home and we’ll share references plus a photo gallery of similar projects. We’re happy to connect you with recent Pencil Log Pros clients so you can ask about their experience.
Q: Do you offer a workmanship warranty?
A: Yes. All Pencil Log Pros restoration, staining, chinking, and rot-repair work includes a written workmanship warranty. Finish manufacturers also provide product warranties. Your proposal will outline coverage, maintenance requirements, and how to request service.
Q: How long does a typical log home restoration take?
A: Maintenance tune-ups usually take 3–10 days. Full exterior restorations range from 2–6+ weeks, depending on home size, condition, access, and weather. We’ll share a schedule window and update you throughout the job.
Q: Do you work through Colorado winters?
A: Many services—rot repair, media-blasting prep, interior chinking and staining—can proceed year-round. Exterior staining requires the right temperature and humidity, so we schedule coatings during suitable weather and monitor conditions daily.
Q: How often should a log home be restained in Colorado?
A: Most homes need restaining every 3–5 years. High-UV elevations and south-facing walls may need touch-ups sooner. We recommend an annual inspection and a maintenance wash to extend coating life.
Q: What’s included in your estimate?
A: Pencil Log Pros will include a detailed scope (prep, repairs, chinking, finishes), products and application methods, measured surface areas, timeline, cleanup plan, warranty, and a fixed investment with any optional upgrades clearly listed.
Q: What areas do you serve?
A: Pencil Log Pros serves most of Colorado, including the Front Range and mountain communities in other states as well. If you’re unsure, start on our Locations page.
Q: How do you protect landscaping, windows, and decks during the job?
A: We use full masking, ground coverings, and daily cleanup. Fixtures are protected or temporarily removed and reinstalled. We leave your property tidy at the end of each day.
Q: What log species and finishes do you work with?
A: Pine, cedar, and spruce are most common in Colorado, and we select breathable, UV-resistant finishes and compatible chinking systems for your logs, exposure, and elevation. Just so you know, your Pencil Log Pros proposal will specify the system we recommend.

“Brad Siler and his team at Pencil Log Pros just finished re-siding and re-staining our cabin in the mountains. He was very responsive to our request and kept us fully informed throughout the process. He performed the work in a timely manner and offered great suggestions. We are very satisfied with the work that was done and are very grateful that we didn't have to spend our weekends on ladders!”

“As someone whose family built a log home 25 years ago, it’s seriously refreshing to finally find true experts - which honestly is not easy to find. After I inquired, I got a phone call maybe a day later from Dillon, who didn’t shy away from any of my anxious questions and seemed to have an answer for everything. When Dan and the team showed up, I was immediately greeted by Dan, who is such a joyful presence. He was always willing to show me how things worked, answer questions, and if he didn’t know something, he was happy to find out. I also really appreciated being included in the process instead of feeling brushed off.And most importantly, the house looks beautiful. You can tell they genuinely care about their work and their clients, which made the entire process feel so much less stressful.”

“When I hire a professional crafts company, I expect that I will get a reasonable bid, once accepted, the company will show up on time and complete the work as promised at the price bid. Pencil Log Pros did all that and more, far exceeding our expectations beyond our wildest dreams. We recently bought a 100-year-old log cabin, which had not had exterior work done in a long time. The logs were bleached in places, painted white in others, and had old brown stain sticking out from the corners and the eaves, this made the home look abandoned and unloved. Brad and his crew of wonder workers gave the home back her life. The old logs returned to their original warm yellow after media blasting. The perfect color of a darker stain reminds the viewer of while it is an older cabin, but now there is no hint of her real age, just what every woman hopes from a refresh. Finished with beautiful chinking, our little home is now the proudest house on the block. From the top down, every person we dealt with in this company was committed to making sure we fully understood the process and were happy as each stage was completed. If your cabin needs professional, expert, and loving care, you need look no further than Pencil Log Pros.”
