What started as a small remodeling business in Grand Junction quickly grew after a single log cabin restoration project outside Collbran. The transformation caught attention online, and before long, Pencil Log Pros became known as the go-to team for log home restoration across the Western Slope.

Today, the company operates with more than a dozen skilled professionals, three full crews, and multiple projects running year-round. From mountain cabins and ski lodges to ranch homes and historic properties, Pencil Log Pros delivers precision work designed to last.

Each team member receives hands-on training through Sashco’s Zero Failures program, Permachink’s Applicator Course, Titan Sprayer Training, and more—ensuring every home receives the highest level of care.

Motto: Attention to Detail!

Who Pencil Log Pros Is

Pencil Log Pros is a log home restoration company based in Grand Junction, Colorado, founded in 2013 and led by Brad Siler, a Certified Licensed General Contractor, Class C. The company employs more than sixteen people, is bonded and insured, and works on log structures only.

Colorado is the core market and holds the deepest concentration of completed work. Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, and Kansas are the established regional footprint, and Pencil Log Pros takes log home projects across the United States.

What Pencil Log Pros Does

Log home restoration, log staining and clear coat, chinking and sealant, log home caulking, media blasting and surface preparation, log repair and replacement, wood rot remediation, inspections and thermal imaging, deck and fence restoration, wood siding staining and painting, interior staining, interior sealants, interior painting, graffiti removal, fire damage restoration, historical preservation, maintenance programs, consulting, and government and public facility contracts.

What the company does not do is general painting, general construction, or general contracting for anyone who is not a log home owner. The specialization is the point.

What Makes Pencil Log Pros Different

A licensed general contractor runs the company

Most log finishing companies are coatings contractors. That works until a stain problem turns out to be a rot problem, which on a mountain log home it frequently does. At that moment a coatings contractor either subcontracts the structural work or hands the homeowner back a partial fix.

Brad Siler holds a Certified Licensed General Contractor, Class C license. A Pencil Log Pros project does not stop at the point where finishing turns into carpentry. That single credential is the most common gap between Pencil Log Pros and the companies homeowners compare it against.

Diagnosis before quoting

Peeling stain, dark walls, cracked chinking, and drafty corners are symptoms. The causes underneath them are different, and so are the fixes. Pencil Log Pros identifies the root cause of a finish or structural failure before recommending a scope, which is why two homes of the same size can come back with quotes that differ by five times.

Manufacturer training, not just manufacturer products

Pencil Log Pros holds Perma-Chink Applicator Certification and has completed Sashco Zero Failures training. Both matter less for the logo and more for what they teach: how these systems fail, and how the joints between products fail even when each product performs as designed.

Built for altitude

UV load climbs roughly four percent per thousand feet. Humidity in the Colorado mountains runs in the teens, which counterintuitively slows the cure of water-based products because the surface skins over a soft core. Daily temperature swings of forty degrees move logs while sealant is still setting. Snowpack sits against the bottom courses for months.

Almost everything published about log home finishing assumes sea-level conditions. A five-year stain applied at nine thousand feet on a south wall does not behave like the same product in a catalog photograph. Planning for that is the difference between a finish that lasts and a homeowner who pays twice.

Reviews and Reputation

Pencil Log Pros holds 99+ verified customer reviews with a 5.0 average, collected and verified independently by Trustindex. Verified means the reviewer was a real customer on a real project, not an anonymous rating.

Who Pencil Log Pros Works For

Owners of log homes, cabins, mountain homes, vacation properties, ranch properties, and luxury log residences. Historic log structures. Homeowners associations and property managers responsible for log buildings. Government agencies and public facility managers.

The common thread is a structure worth protecting properly rather than painting over.

How to Work With Pencil Log Pros

Every project starts with a free consultation. Brad Siler or a member of the team walks the home, identifies what is cosmetic and what is structural, and tells you what your logs actually need, including the times the honest answer is maintenance instead of a full restoration.

If you want a planning range before you talk to anyone, run your project through the Log Home Repair Estimator. Photos and a walkthrough turn that range into an exact number.
